Erica Kokiw, VP of Digital at UM, is diving into the conversation about battling increased amounts of misinformation within the advertising and marketing industries. Currently, Heritage Minister, Steven Guilbeault, is in the process of crafting legislation to provide a framework on demanding transparency between Canadian news outlets and online platforms. In the meantime, Kokiw has provided recommendations for marketers to employ in order to combat misinformation struggles: informing media investment with media responsibility strategy, reviewing keyword exclusions and domain exclusion lists, prioritizing domain inclusion lists as an investment strategy and diversifying media investment.
